A woman has dropped out of a bridal party after being asked by the bride to drop two dress sizes by going to the gym – and to pay £350 to be part of the big day.
The woman, who has remained anonymous, decided to back out of the wedding after receiving a text message from the bride outlining her expectations.
In the message, the bride explained she had already picked the bridesmaids dresses and they would be a size eight, so anyone larger than that had better get to work.
She also added that she wanted a ‘donation’ of £353 ($500) to her honeymoon fund, and added that anyone with short hair should get extensions.
The text message reads: “Welcome to my bridal party, I’m so excited to marry the man of my dreams.
“AS you know this is going to be a very different wedding. We are hoping to do it outside and understand December is generally a cold month but in Oklahoma it’s usually sunny and 70′.
“Just a few things to ask. I had picked all the dresses and bridesmaid that will be there and they will all be a size eight, so if you’re not a size eight I recommend hitting the gym.
“No offence to anyone but I have had this planned since I was in diapers and want it perfect. You nails need to be cut short and uncoloured.
“Hair needs to be shoulder length and straightened so if your hair is short get extensions.
“No fake tans.
“As you may notice my bestie isn’t the maid of honor and is just going to be a guest. If you don’t know why just ask, we have an understanding.
“We also want no kids at the ceremony. Except my flower girl, but she will only be present to throw flowers then her parents are taking her home.
“I’m sorry if this seems a lot of demands but this is my special day and just want it like I always pictured.
“Please be respectful and we will have an awesome time.
“One last thing, I’ll be sending my Venmo and cash app to the ones who haven’t paid the $500 donation towards honeymoon in Hawaii.
“Love you guys can’t wait to be a wifey.”
The friend of the bride shared the text message on Reddit, with the caption ‘I’ve officially dropped out of the bridal party. I’m a size 12 with no plans on dropping to a size 8 by December’.
Many users saw the funny side of the text message, and agreed that the bride was being unreasonable.
One said: “Ah I too love it when I get invoices and money requests for donations.”
And another added: “Can she just get a bunch of mannequins from the mall as bridesmaids instead? That’s basically what she’s demanding they act as.
And one said: “I really hope she gets a well deserved reality check and there’s only four people at her wedding.”
